Read this before asking beamline staff

 

Which is the usual timetable for experiments?

The beamline is prepared the first day of the experiment to start user data collection by 9h30. Provided that the beamline is operative, you have continuous beam until the end of the awarded beamtime, including night shift.

 

Which is the timetable for Local Contact support?

Local contacts support users between 9h and 22h. No support is given during night shift.

 

Which is the contact phone number?

How do I ship my Dewars?

 Please refer to the Dewar Management and Shipping page.

 

How to ship back your Dewar after an experiment?

  1.  Download, fill in and print the DEWAR RETURN FORM
  2. Stick the Dewar Return Form on your Dewar case and put the Dewar in the DEWAR OUT area, just outside of the Control Hutch.
  3. Once back home, call your Courier to pick up the Dewar at the ALBA address (see above).
  4. The Dewar will be at the Alba Reception and Delivery Area, available between 7-13h and 14-16h (Mon-Fri) , to be picked up by your Courier

 

How to come to Alba?

  Arriving by car

ALBA-CELLS facilities are very close to the AP7 (connecting Barcelona with France) and C58 highways. From the Barcelona city center you can reach the site via C58 (Google Maps).

Arriving by plane

airport Barcelona International airport (El Prat) is the closest airport to ALBA-CELLS facilities. It is well connected to the Barcelona city train stations (BCN-Sants, BCN-Passeig de Gracia, BCN-Catalunya). Visit the AENA website for more information (or telephone +34 902 404 704).

You can also easily reach Barcelona center by car (take C32-B direction "Barcelona", merge into C31 via the ramp Barcelona/Ronda Litoral and go to Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes) or the ALBA-CELLS site (Google Maps).

 

Girona-Costa Brava airport is the second option (AENA site). It is mainly operated by low-cost airlines and is one-hour drive by car to Barcelona.

 

Arriving by train

train Due to the closest location to Barcelona, the preferred option if you come by train is to arrive to one of the Barcelona main train stations (BCN-Sants or BCN-Estació de França). Both stations are connected to the subway. Renfe (website) is the spanish railway company. It is recommended to buy a ticket to Plaça Catalunya subway station (Plaça Catalunya is also a train connection). Once in Plaça de Catalunya, you have several options:

  • Take the line R4 of RENFE direction Terrassa/Manresa and stop at Cerdanyola del Vallès. Once there, two bus lines connect Cerdanyola del Vallès RENFE station with ALBA-CELLS site (Line A4 Cerdanyola del Vallès-Sant Cugat and Line B7 Cerdanyola del Vallès - Rubí). Bus stop is Sugrañes or Sincrotró.

  • Follow the FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de

     
    Catalunya) sign FGC logo and take the lines , , or and stop at Sant Cugat station. Once there, go to the RENFE Sant Cugat station and take the bus connecting the ALBA-CELLS site.
