CIRCE
Photoemission Spectroscopy and Microscopy
CIRCE is a variable polarization soft X-ray beamline dedicated to advanced photoemission experiments. A plane grating monochromator covering the energy range 100 - 2000 eV is shared between two independent branches with dedicated experimental endstations: PEEM (photoemission electron microscopy) and NAPP (near ambient pressure photoemission). A couple of deflecting mirrors directs the beam to one branch or to the other. |

The two Endstations of the CIRCE Beamline |
Status: Operating
The PEEM endstation is regularly receiving users since October 2012. Relevant results have been obtained in XPS-PEEM, XMCD-PEEM, IV-LEEM and LEED modes, combining state of the art spatial resolution with spectroscopic measurements (spectromicroscopy). We are continuously working on expanding this range (e.g. XMLD-PEEM) and adding further measurement options (e.g. in magnetic and electric fields), depending on user needs. The NAPP endstation is in user operation since November 2013.

How to measure at CIRCE - Calls for proposals
Beamtime is allocated to users based on proposal evaluation by the international scientific review panel. Calls for beamtimes in 2014 are closed now. The next call is expected to open in autumn 2014. In case of any questions or suggestions please contact beam line staff Lucia Aballe / Michael Foerster (for PEEM) and Virginia Perez-Dieste / Carlos Escudero (for NAPP) |
